Bruins Brusing and Crusing

So, what do our Beanpot Boys think about their amazing success this year, flying high atop the entire NHL? "We've got 85 points. We're doing fine. We have to sharpen up. It's a couple of leads we've let slip lately, so we have to look at that. We have a great test coming in here Tuesday. We're all excited about that for sure. We're going to need to get some rest here," high-scoring center Marc Savard recently told the "Boston Globe".

And head coach Claude Julien adds, "The amount of points we've picked up in this stretch of seven games is good. We're not going to complain about that."

Well, it wouldn't be hockey without incredible understatements, now would it? The Bruins are trying to light yet another torch of sports pride her in Boston. Not only do they have those 85 points in 54 games, they have six more points than the NHL's second-best team, San Jose (and we all know that those Sharks play "out there" in hockey's pansy conference). The Bruins have not lost a game, except in overtime, since January 17th when the second-place team behind them (as of now), the Washington Capitals, denied them any points.

How have the Bruins been having their best season in quite a long time? They work it, baby. They have players who have magnificent puck control, they're skating great, and they're m-e-a-n. Oh, and did I mention that they have scored the second-most goals in the entire league while only giving up the second-fewest? Kessel is a top 10 goal scorer so far, Savard is 5th in the league in total points, and--get this one--four of the top five guys in +/- all play for Boston! That's what I'm talking about!
